MobiCall solutions for lone workers

Regardless of the industry sector, the staff safety is the highest priority for a company – lone workers protection is a key for everyones safety. In critical situations, a reliable personal protection system must be available for lone workers. This includes a terminal device to manually or automatically trigger an alarm, a reliable rescue chain and a quick on-site assistance available. Acting as a central alarm and information platform, MobiCall ensures an efficient alerting of first responders. Thanks to the graphic visualisation of site and building plans on a Client PC, a central unit can always keep track of the situation and accordingly coordinate the rescue operation. In parallel, first responders receive via multimedia location information and details directly on their terminal devices. This will enable the people involved to locate the quickest possible the subjects calling for help. In this context, automatically started teleconferences support the direct exchange between the responsible units.

1. Personal alarm

An alarm can be triggered either manually using an emergency button or automatically (man-down, no-movement, time, tear off via pull-cord or escape alarm).

2. Processing and visualisation

MobiCall determines location information as well as details, and consequently displays the alarm in the central switchboard, so that site and building plans can interactively be visualised.

3. Alerting

According to alarm plans and timetables, the system transmits the event via multimedia to a defined group of people, for instance over internal and external extensions, smartphones, Client PCs, IP loudspeakers.

4. Acknowledgement and escalation

 

To ensure the utmost security, a predefined number of recipients must acknowledge the alarm. If these subjects cannot be reached, the system can start an alarm escalation to notify someone else.

5. Report & Control

MobiCall logs detailed information about the entire alarm process. The alarm report can be sent automatically, but it can also be accessed at any time using the alarm control panel. Emergency calls and conferences can optionally be recorded.

LONE WORKING DEFINITION

Lone workers are defined as “people performing their working activities alone, out of earshot and sight of other persons” (section § 2.7.2 of the German Social Accident Insurance DGUV-R 100-001). According to paragraph § 5 of the German Working Conditions Act, the entrepreneur must identify the risks associated with the lone working position and assess the working conditions. depending on the risk assessment, it is necessary to provide suitable response measures and to document the procedures in accordance with paragraph § 6.

Thanks to the interaction between the central system and the personal emergency terminal devices, connection and operation are monitored around the clock. The battery status of the terminal device is also permanently controlled. If the system finds any faults, a technical alarm is automatically activated to inform the people concerned.

Depending on the alarm configuration, the information transmission can occur on a skill or priority basis and in a simultaneous or sequential way. As a professional security application, MobiCall also supports internal Watchdog monitoring, automatic backups, as well as extensive reporting and statistics functions.

For central offices and staff functions, such as a receptionist, gatekeeper, safety officer or control centre, the chance to display a personal emergency call on a site or building plan is of particular importance. The high-performing MobiCall Visualisation Tool allows controlling and keeping track of the user even in stressful situations. Procedural instructions lead the acting units through an emergency.

Legal basis

According to the German Accident Prevention Regulations “principles of prevention” (BGV/GUV-V A1), entrepreneurs must identify the risks associated with the lone working position and accordingly assess the working conditions. According to the risk assessment, it is necessary to provide suitable response measures and to document the procedures. An elevated risk level exists when a person has a limited acting capability after an event occurred. If a person is unable to take any action after an event, the risk level is defined as critical instead. In both cases, the personal alarm systems (PAS) in compliance with the German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV 112-139) are necessary. A PAS consists of the personal alarm receiving station (PNEZ) and the personal alarm devices (PAD). Terminal devices supporting voice communication are referred to as PAD-S.

MobiCall.App for lone workers – Security under control

The Android MobiCall App can work in conjunction with MobiCall for a better protection of lone workers. The solution is designed on the basis of the DGUV (German Statutory Accident Insurance) 112-139 regulation in order to ensure a reliable personal protection. As regards field representatives, is it also possible to directly trigger alarms even on locked screens or through hardware buttons. The graphical user interfaces allow to employees, emergency responders, managers and security officers to directly and intuitively trigger alarms and scenarios, independently from time and location.

Watchmen and patrols controls

Thanks to MobiCall patrols can be optionally monitored and documented. During patrols, watchmen must pass through a defined checkpoint within an individually scheduled time.

If the person in charge does not acknowledge the alarm, it is possible to trigger a prealarm first, in order to avoid false alarms. Only later, a true alarm is released and the specific internal and external units are informed.
